Authorities search for St. Cloud man

NEW ULM — Authorities are searching for a 36-year-old St. Cloud man facing charges of felony 3rd-degree burglary and felony theft filed in Brown County District Court June 5.

Brandon L. Nagel, 125 4th Ave. N.E., is accused of entering Proformance Auto Start & Security, 1218 N. Front St., New Ulm, on April 3 and aiding and abetting the theft of $35,830,86 worth of electronic equipment.

According to court documents, New Ulm Police responded to Proformance Auto Start & Security for a reported burglary on April 3. At the scene, officers noticed that a large overhead garage door appeared to have been driven into, causing damage and allowing building access.

Police met with the business owner, who pointed out muddy boot prints on the walk-in door and damage to the door handle and door jamb. The business owner listed all missing items, including remote start kits and stereo equipment. He included serial numbers and other identifying numbers the next day.

On April 7, the business owner told police that two subwoofers stolen from his business were recovered and returned to him by a friend who used to work for him, now lives in the St. Cloud area and is involved in community car audio networks. In addition, the business owner said he learned that multiple audio items were found in a residence and vehicle in St. Cloud.

New Ulm Police alerted St. Cloud Police of the burglary.

St. Cloud Police executed the search warrant at 125 4th Ave. N.E. and listed 13 items including speakers, amps and remote starts that were stolen from Proformance Auto in New Ulm.

Nagel currently has a warrant for his arrest issued in Blue Earth County. Therefore, New Ulm Police believe he would fail to respond to a summons. An 24-hour warrant was requested for Nagel’s arrest.

Starting at $4.38/week.
