What's wrong with the post office? Show me how UPS and FedEx is mailing letters for 46 cents. Maybe they need to raise the price of a stamp.

Falling behind WHAT, JReader? Our state continues to fall in the top of most lists (test scores, low unemployment, economic conditions, health, etc.)

I don't agree with all of Dayton's plan, but we DO need to start taxing online sales. Brick and Mortar stores are becoming a showroom for online retailers and they can only continue to do that for so long. In fairness to the businesses, particularly the small businesses and their owners who live and work in our communities, pay property taxes, support our schools, employ our friends and neighbors, this would only be fair.

Under our current tax system we do nothing more than penalize success and reward failure. Dayton with his latest plan is just more of the same mindset. Add to it an expansion of the sales tax and our state is destined to conitnue falling behind.

Integrity - I agree with you also ,people seem to think that the government some how is wise and all knowing - must be past expiereince,Post Office , Social Secirity , Medicare and every other government program. They spend more than they take in, and people think that is great as long as it is somebody elses money. It is trickle down economics, that means good or bad,it will trickle down, they may just get what they are asking for - might not like it when they get it.

deerhunt-agreed. I'm all for equal opportunity, just not equal outcome. Pretty sure that's what this government stands for. There's a trend right now that makes it feel like it's more benefitial to utilize the system and not succeed. Ask a small business owner sometime if you don't believe me, any industry...everywhere you turn it's much more benefitial to be an employee than an employer, taxes to health care, etc. How does that grow jobs? Again, ask people if you don't believe me.

we have a progressive tax system in Minnesota and Federally also, the more you make the higher your tax rate, i'm tired of eveyone demonizing the "rich". they are called greedy for using their God given talents to the fullest ,what do you call it when you want to take that money away from them and divide it amongst yourselves with out doing a thing to earn it -hypocrisy. remember your employer pays half of your social security and medicare for you -no charge -another freebee. pays for a percentage of your healthcare ,vacation ,sick time holidays - and you want to call them greedy?

In other words - listen to the state Chamber - they see what's hanging out in the shadows of this budget plan from the governor.

The middle class needs to be afraid, very afraid of "their" governor's plan. After campaigning for the middle class, now he's going to tax them at every turn in their everyday life. Under the sales tax strategy of Dayton's, every $1.00 exchanged in this state is going to be taxed 3 times - twice as income, once as a sales tax on the transaction. Service and goods, all taxed the same rate...oh, but thanks for the $500 on our property taxes-nice smoke screen.
