Great job to both hockey programs, girls and boys. The boys are on the verge of winning the section in what would be a great encore to the great job the girls did...5 state appearances for the girls and 4 for the boys in the last five years. How many do girls/boys basketball have? Wrestling (team)? Way to represent New Ulm...boys and girls hockey!!!! At least someone in the winter sports has to.

@LegalBeagle...it's a little tough to compete with private schools and Warroad who bring in players from out of town. Our YOUNG team played two amazing games this years state appearance. Their second was a very close game only losing 2-3 to Hibbing/Chisholm. We were up 1-0 for the first half of the game. New Ulm has a very strong hockey program and I'm proud of our teams.

The New Ulm team went to state last year with the majority of their players in the 8th and 10th grades. They ended their play at state in the consolation championship game. They played very well and lost that game in over time.

Such a competitive section... first these blowouts in the semis; then the eventual section winner will head to state and lose by an even larger margin. The MSHSL hockey classes need to be redrawn.
