Close to crossing a terrible line

April 7, 2013

Americans concerned about the ease with which abortions can be obtained, not to mention government subsidies for some organizations that provide them, have warned for years that such changes in our......

What Auntydem said in regards to the so-called doctor in this editorial is absolutely correct. He was on his own, running his so-called clinic on his terms & with a staff he put together to be whoever he needed them to be. He had no affiliation with Planned Parenthood.

Perhaps none of us will ever come together in agreement in regards to who should have rights - the woman who chooses abortion or the unborn baby who is aborted. Once again, however, the issue at hand goes way beyond that.

We are talking about babies who survive abortions & then are left to die. The end result of abortions is supposed to be successful terminations. As sad as that is for me, it is even more heartwrenching knowing that infanticide is happening. I believe we should all be able to come together on at least this issue, that this is a horrible wrong.

My understanding was that it can take days for fertilization to occur and the pill prevents ovulation, leaving nothing to fertilize, and also interferes with fertilization. I looked further after your comment and found it may prevent attachment - they are not certain because generally half of fertilized eggs don't make it that far. So you're right, and it is possible.

Auntydem, correct me if I am wrong. Plan B prevents the fertilized egg from attaching to the uterous, therefore forcing it to die, correct? Many believe that life begins at conception, so this would be an abortion under that criteria.

There is an abortion pill, but Plan B is not it. Plan B is emergency contraception. It's does not end a pregnancy.

Agree it should not be sold over the counter to teens.

There is a difference between providing contraception that prevents fertilization and abortifacients.

With "Plan B" many people will say, "Skip the ******, I'll deal with it tomorrow". STDs will be on the rise, and too often these people rely on the government for treatment. Also, it is a shame that I need to sign a slip to allow my kids to go on a field trip, but my daughter can get an abortion or pills that cause it without my knowledge.

Honest! I didn't mess with Grandma's name other than a typo of an M instead of N!

In total agreement with Gra****D.

Despite the editorial implying a link, this so-called doctor had nothing to do with Planned Parenthood. He ran his own “clinic” which ignored all of the state’s restrictions and requirements. Other “doctors” on staff were unlicensed. A grade school drop-out gave anesthesia. This is reminiscent of the back alley abortions of the past.

The lobbyist testifying said she did not know how to answer the question. That is the only accurate thing she said. Planned Parenthood provides contraception, help with options to abortion, and first term abortions, but does not do late term even if laws allow it. Women without access to doctors or PP sometimes end up in places like this clinic. Access to education, contraception, and help with adoption should be easier to find than illegal “clinics”.

I will always be pro-life, unless the mother's life is in danger. I will not judge a mother's choice to abort in the case of rape or incest because those, too, are horrific crimes.

With abortion, the most innocent are stripped of the most basic right of all human beings, the right to life. Infanticide takes abortion to a whole new abominable level, & I can't understand how anyone could believe that it's okay.

I recall the story about Jill Stanek, a nurse who spoke out about aborted babies born alive & left to die at the hospital where she worked. Her story & the story of Gianna Jessen, an abortion survivor are powerful testimonies about actions that go way beyond the brutal procedure of abortion, itself.

It's remarkable how organizations like Planned Parenthood are so quick to wash their hands and try to pass the infanticide on to the mother. I guess that is just another "choice" the mother is allowed to make.

Remember, liberals are supposed to be the "compassionate" members of our society looking out for the "little guy"; unless of course that little guy is an aborted child only looking to survive. They aren't given the choice to live.

I remember when abortions became legal and many judges -organizations and churches said that this was just a stepping stone to murder of babies that could survive outside the womb. It has now come true. What will the next thing be. Hobby Lobby and Chic Filet are trying to fight the gov mandate of providing the pills that they do not believe in. These are Christian Companies that are not even open on Sundays because of what they believe. Our gov has gone too far with interfering in our lives.
