Lower taxes, sure. But not without problems and trade-offs in quality of life due to the oil boom.

Tax free living? ND does have state income tax, property taxes, other taxes like a 5% sales tax (including clothing). Extraction taxes and production taxes paid by the oil industry provide billions in revenue for the state. They are fortunate to have the oil boom to provide that additional tax revenue. But it's not tax-free living.

Of course they have low taxes, there is nothing there to support! Oil is funding what little the state does have. Sure, you could move to North Dakota...and be bored out of your mind!
