1. The student refused to obey a teacher. Students aren't allowed to wear shirts with certain things on them, like references to guns and alcohol. The teacher was enforcing the dress code, which every school has. The kid was probably being belligerent about it, which teenage boys have a tendency to do.

2. Cap guns haven't been allowed in schools for many many years now. They make loud noises and do sort of look like real guns. The punishment was too severe, true, but the kid still broke a long standing rule in schools.

3. This one is ridiculous, I'll give you that.

The only thing bad about these incidents is that they got blown way out of proportion. Tell the kid not to wear that shirt again. The the kid not to bring the cap gun anymore. Tell the kid to stop playing with his food and eat it. These incidents aren't the result of gun control gone wild. They are a result of the huge numbers of highly publicized school shootings.
