How do you punish millionaire athletes?

July 27, 2013

Major League Baseball came down hard on the Milwaukee Brewers’ star Ryan Braun, suspending him for the remainder of the season, a total of 65 games, for using performance enhancing drug....

Let me break it down for you, JReader. You seem a little slower than normal tonight.

If you or I do drugs and get caught, we may end up in prison. If an athlete does drugs, not so much. I asked if the prisons were full, and said that they must be *tongue in cheek* because many of the other millionaires in this country (wall street) who are doing illegal activity don't see prison time, either.

Athletes are nothing more than highly paid entertainers. If they need to take drugs to prove their worth that's their business and the league to which they belong. I don't see anything criminal in it but that doesn't mean they shouldn't be kicked out of their sport. That decision falls on the particular sport and their rules.

Still don't see the correlation between a jock and a wall street millionaire. Take a few more sips of your special kool aide mnsotn and maybe you will be inspired enough to let the rest of us into your world.

Oh stuff it JR. If what they were doing was illegal (were the performance enhancing drugs legal?), just like on Wall Street, then sometimes a prison sentence makes more of an impact than a fine. Just ask your friend Bernie Madoff.

If what they were doing wasn't illegal, then ban them for a extended time without pay or endorsements.

So, millionaire=criminal. Thanks for the clarification mnsotn.

You'd think if any professional sports league was serious about cleaning up their act they'd just kick these guys out for good. I'm sure there's dozens of guys that would be willing, able, and clean to take Braun's spot on the field.

They must be full, because all the Wall Street millionaires managed to avoid prison time, too.
