japanviking - maybe I am missing your point. It would appear the states are enacting laws after federal laws have been passed which would mean state laws are in violation or conflict with federal laws. Since the Federal law has been passed sometime ago, would not a newly enacted state law be violating the well established federal law? I have to agree with HopeMaria in that any administration, past or present, seems to enforce some laws very strictly while at other times seem to be lax or look the other way in enforcement. But that is politics.

japanviking, both sides are guilty of this hypocrisy! When AZ tried in enact stricker regulations, etc regarding illegal immigration it was the Left that went nuts and filed federal lawsuits trying to block the new laws. but I agree completely with "Either Sates have the right to enact the laws they chose or they do not. You cannot cherry pick for your own religious or moral convenience. "

I will reserve judgement on whether marijuana should be decriminalized or not but I would just point out that one of the mantra's of conservatives is that Sates have the right to make their own laws. When states vote in laws to enforce stricter abortion regulations or voter ID laws the cry from the right is that the Sates have the right to make these laws yet when a state makes strict gun laws or gay marriage laws or marijuana laws then all of a sudden there are federal lawsuits filed against those states and the right screams they have no right to enact those laws. This is the height of hypocrisy. You cannot have it both ways. Either Sates have the right to enact the laws they chose or they do not. You cannot cherry pick for your own religious or moral convenience.
