MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Two men are charged with murder in a botched robbery that turned into a killing in a New Hope parking lot.
Twenty-nine-year-old Damin Shufford of New Hope and 20-year-old Adaiah Townsend of Crystal each face first-degree murder and robbery charges.
Both men are charged in the June 26 shooting death of 59-year-old Kent Walker of Fridley. Walker was discovered shot to death inside his car.
According to charges, Shufford asked Townsend for a handgun because Shufford wanted to commit a robbery. After Shufford returned from an apartment complex, he told others he had to "slump" a guy sitting in his car because Walker tried to grab his gun.
The Star Tribune (http://bit.ly/1bO2qJL) reports when Townsend asked Shufford why he shot Walker, Shufford responded, "It's something I do to relieve stress."
