Minn. Congress hopeful's TV pitch questioned

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — A Minnesota congressional candidate has asked to get a TV ad featuring him vouching for a construction company pulled down amid campaign finance questions.

Republican candidate Tom Emmer appeared in an ad for Elk River-based Integrity Exteriors & Remodelers Inc. while noting his bid for campaign and standing by a political banner.

Emmer adviser David FitzSimmons says the remodeler worked on the campaign's office and the candidate was offering a testimonial. FitzSimmons says it was never meant to be part of a broadcast ad.

It's not clear how Emmer will account for the TV spot on his federally required finance reports.

An employee at the Elk River-based construction firm deferred comment to the company's owner, who wasn't available.

Emmer is running for retiring GOP Rep. Michele Bachmann's seat.
