Discovery of remains brings relief to Minn. family

October 27, 2013
Associated Press

SARTELL, Minn. (AP) — The brother of a 24-year-old Minnesota woman who went missing last spring says his family felt some relief when they heard that human remains were discovered Saturday.

Mandy Matula, of Eden Prairie, disappeared May 1. She was last leaving her home with her ex-boyfriend, David Roe, who fatally shot himself in the head in a police parking lot the next day.

Her 22-year-old brother, Steven Matula, tells WCCO Radio that clothing and a ring found with the remains Saturday in a park near Sartell match his sisters', so his family is convinced she's been found.

He says they're hoping an autopsy scheduled for Sunday will make it official and give them insights into what happened to her. He says they hope to hear some concrete answers Monday or Tuesday.
