HASTINGS, Minn. (AP) — The Dakota County sheriff's office is asking the public for help in identifying the body of a woman found over the weekend.

The body was found Saturday evening around 5:30 p.m. in a rural wooded area of Ravenna Township. The landowner discovered the body, which apparently had been there less than 36 hours.

The woman is described as white or possibly Native American, in her late 20s to early 30s, standing 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-8 and weighing 190 pounds. She had reddish hair with blond highlights, was wearing jewel-encrusted starfish earrings and had a vine-shaped tattoo across her lower back.

The Hennepin County medical examiner's office has not determined what caused her death. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is helping investigate.
