Lights of Love to glow at NUMC Dec. 7

NEW ULM - New Ulm Medical Center Auxiliary will host the 2nd Annual Lights of Love on Sunday, Dec. 7 with tree lighting at 5 p.m.

The New Ulm High School Payne Street Singers will be caroling as donors and their families come to see the evergreen in front of the hospital lit up by six soldiers and veterans at 5 p.m.

Taps will be played by Sam Arsers, and the Comrades of Valor will be in attendance. A donor reception and WWII pinning ceremony will follow in the newly updated NUMC Auditorium on the third floor of the hospital.

Gift certificates available for senior dining program

NEW ULM - Gift certificates for meals at the senior dining program at the New Ulm Community Center/Senior Center are available for purchase during the holiday season.

Certificates can be purchased from Jesse Capparelli, site manager at the New Ulm Senior Center, 600 N. German at $3,50 per meal is requested. Stop in or call 359-2243.

Auxiliary Holiday Bazaar planned

NEW ULM - A bake sale, silent auction and raffle will be held 9:30 -11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 6 at Oak Hills Living Center 1314-8th North St., New Ulm.

Refreshments will be served. Please bring your camera for photos with Santa Claus.

Baked goods, craft items and/or monetary donations are greatly appreciated by 9 a.m. on Saturday.

Proceeds will benefit the residents of Oak Hills Living Center.

Bovee & Heil at the Rhein River Arts Center

NEW ULM - Bob Bovee and Gail Heil will return to New Ulm at 8 p.m. this Saturday, Dec. 6 Rhein River Arts Center at 210 N. Minnesota St.

This duo has performed here on a number of occasions and has a repertoire that includes dance tunes, ballads, cowboy songs, humorous and sentimental numbers, blues and rags, as well as a dose of stories, history and folklore.

Both musicians sing (and Bovee yodels, too) and play fiddle, banjo, guitar and harmonica.

Bovee has been described as one of the great singers of cowboy song alive today.

Tickets are $10 in advance at the New Ulm Chamber or call 507-359-9222.

Remaining tickets will be sold for $12 at the door.

ECFE Family Gym Night set

NEW ULM - Early Childhood Family Education invites you to bring your family - children ages one to five years old - to the Jefferson School Gym for a night of family fun and exercise.

The event will be held from 6:30-7:30 p.m on Friday, Dec. 5. There is a charge of $3 per child that will be collected at the door.

Brown County Giving Tree

NEW ULM - The Brown County Giving Tree assists families in giving Christmas gifts that their children may not otherwise receive.

The Giving Tree has a majority of clothing requests along with an occasional request.

Currently there are approximately four dozen cards still remaining on the tree and we are asking people to pick a card from the tree and return the card along with wrapped gift to the tree by Friday, Dec. 12.

The Giving Tree is located in the Markplatz Mall near Herbergers.

Church of the Japanese Martyrs to hold pancake breakfast

LEAVENWORTH - The Church of the Japanese Martyrs in Leavenworth is having a Catholic Aid Matching Grant Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, Dec. 7.

The meal will be served from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the church hall.

On the menu will be pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, applesauce, coffee and juice.

Everyone is welcome to attend this breakfast.
