NUMC physicians attend presentation: Healthcare Disparities in Rural Minnesota

NEW ULM - Approximately 40 physicians and staff from the New Ulm Medical Center recently attended a presentation titled "Healthcare Disparities in Rural Minnesota: Understanding and Addressing Challenges in your Patient Panel."

The presentation was sponsored by Hearts Beat Back: The Heart of New Ulm Project and was held locally.

Speakers included Pamela Johnson, MPH, Ph.D., senior statistician and research investigator at the Center for Healthcare Innovation, Allina Hospitals & Clinics; and Ray Christensen, M.D., associate professor and assistant dean for rural health, medical school, University of Minnesota Duluth.

Heart of New Ulm Grand Rounds is held four times each year to provide physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants with an opportunity to learn more about the project and state-of-the-art treatment for the management of individuals at high risk for coronary heart disease.
