SLEEPY?EYE - Pat Stevermer of Sleepy Eye has received the Delta Kappa Gamma Society international Woman of Achievement Award for 2010-2011. She is a member of the Alpha Iota chapter.
Stevermer holds a degree in Home Economics Education, and licensure as a Community Education Director and Parent Educator.
She was initiated into Delta Kappa Gamma Alpha Iota chapter on May 15, 1989. She served as chapter president two different times, chapter vice president, and secretary. Among her responsibilities were the compilation and printing of the yearly program booklets, editing a club cookbook in 2005-2006, serving on state scholarship committee and serving as registrar for 2003 state convention held in Willmar.
She taught home economics in Wells-Easton and in Sleepy Eye. She has been Community Education Director in Sleepy Eye since 1979. She was named Community Ed Director of the year for small schools in 2002 by the Minnesota Community Education Association. She started the ECFE program in Sleepy Eye in the early 1990s and served as parent educator for the classes. She served on Facility Use Committee and Staff Council-Wellness Committee at school.She serve on United Way of Brown County Board and the Youth Scholarship Committee and the Pro-Kinship for Kids Board.
Stevermer was involved with the Help Me Grow Committee and Interagency Referral Team (IRT), Early Childhood Initiative and Child Abuse Prevention Committee (CAPC). She was involved with the Sleepy Eye Education Foundation as secretary and Sleepy Eye Community Theatre as financial director.
She was named volunteer of the year by the Sleepy Eye Chamber of Commerce in 2010. She is a former member of the Chamber and continues to work at some of its events. She has been active in her church and does knitting and sewing for charity. She has been a member of the General Federation of Women's Club since 1970. She participated in the Blandin Leadership Program.
