NEW ULM - Ted Jafvert, manager of the north half of the Marktplatz Mall, recently opened Outlet Sales of New Ulm, an outlet store near the center of the mall.
Jafvert said a similar, but larger, Outlet Sales store earlier opened in Dickinson, N.D., but that the New Ulm store is growing fast as more and more products arrive.
The list of brand-name, wholesale items include furniture, clothing, housewares, wool rugs, sporting goods, calculators and outdoor gear. There are also things like wool rugs, cellphone wallets, aluminum wallets, jewelry, compact discs, down mattress pads and Oreck vacuum cleaners.

Merchandise comes from warehoused items previously destined for major department stores, at 40 to 60 percent off retail prices, Jafvert said.
He added that mall traffic has picked up since the store opened.
