To the editor:
As our state representatives ponder how to vote on the Vikings stadium issue I hope they consider the experiences of Baltimore, Cleveland, Houston and St. Louis. All four of those cities decided not to support their NFL franchises at a level necessary to keep them. All four ultimately ended up regretting that decision and ended up spending more money to acquire new teams.
Let's not make their mistake, let's get people off unemployment and back to work. This new state of the art stadium will host a Super Bowl, NCAA Final Fours, Big Ten Football Championship games and many other national events.
Area lawmakers also must keep in mind the strong economic benefits Mankato receives in hosting training camp. Yes, the stadium will cost a lot to build but the cost of not building it is greater.
