The filing period for city, county and state offices closes on Tuesday at 5 p.m. There is still time, and plenty of offices in need of a challenger. It looks like there will be races in the state legislative races, but most city council and county commissioner races have one candidate filed.
There are some offices where no one has filed, however. The Soil and Water Conservation District Supervisor up for re-election had no candidates filed as of Friday. The SWCD manages natural resources programs in the state.
Areas One, Two and Four are up for election this year. Dick Schroepfer and Ervin Windschitl represent Areas One and Two, respectively, and the two are not planning to run again, according to the Brown SWCD website.
If you have an interest in natural resources, and live in the areas up for election, you might consider filing for election. There's still time.
