Where are the facts on voter fraud?

June 29, 2012
The Journal

To the editor:

In the Wednesday's article about the voter ID amendment, Secretary of State Mark Ritchie stated that voter fraud in Minnesota was among the lowest in the nation.

Jane Downs said, "state voter fraud was the worst in the country and that the voter ID amendment was needed." The Secretary of State's office would handle such complaints. and have the records.

Where did Jane Downs receive her information? This is a very important issue. I am old enough to remember that people were killed during the voter registration drives in the south during the 1960s, when the issue was voter repression. Individual voting rights are the foundation for our democracy. I hope Jane Downs will share her source, via this means, so I can make an informed decision, based on the facts. I await her response.
