NEW ULM - Hope and Faith Floral & Gifts, 209 N. Minnesota, added a roaster to caramelize its pecans, almonds and cashews.
The idea to bring the roaster to New Ulm with an agreement with an Atlanta roasting company came during a trip by store owners Ryan and Lisa Visher.
"We witnessed roasted nuts at the Christmaskind German Market in downtown Chicago a few years ago," said Lisa Visher. "The smell is amazing and the flavors are incredible."
Caramelizing nuts began in Barvaria as a way to preserve them and add a sweet snack at taverns and beer gardens.
"It's challenging to find the right roaster," said Ryan Visher. "German models are all gas. We found a company that uses electric roasting methods that creates a superior product."
Samples are available in stores in New Ulm, Sleepy Eye and Madelia. Nuts are also available for delivery.
