It is gratifying to see the number of candidates who filed for the District 88 School Board election this year.
Eight candidates have filed for the four seats on the board that are up for election. With three of the four incumbents choosing not to file for re-election, it could have been a struggle to fill the slate.
But eight candidates guarantee there will be a real choice. It will take a little time to get to know them all, but at first glance the credentials and interests of all the candidates indicate there is a good selection.
Being a school board member is not an easy job, especially in difficult economic times that call for cutting back programs and classes. But the candidates have all indicated their interest in working hard to provide the best education we can for our students.
The citizens of the district can show their appreciation for these candidates by getting to know them, and electing good, qualified members to the board.
