School traffic safety

September 5, 2012
The Journal

School is back in full swing this week, and it's a good time to remind drivers to exercise extra caution.

This applies to students who are driving to and from school, as well as adults.

Anyone who has driven near a school in the morning, when students are arriving, and in the afternoon, when they are leaving, knows there will be plenty of extra traffic from buses and parents dropping off and picking up kids. There will be more pedestrian traffic too, as students walk to school.

Please be sure to drive carefully around schools and keep an eye out for children at these critical times.

Students who are driving to school need to remember to be cautious and patient when pulling in and out of the school parking lots. Remember to put the cell phones away while driving. There will be plenty of time to catch up after you turn the engine off.
