To the editor:
This is the budget season for the City of New Ulm. I believe the tax payers of this City would like to see some reporting/dialogue on the pension/benefits costs and the rules for city employees to qualify for these pensions/benefits and the amounts they qualify for after prescribed years of service.
In many cities these benefits/pensions are causing a problem in balancing their budgets and in this budget season this topic needs transparency. What are the current and future costs of these benefits to the City of New Ulm?
