Cathedral goes 3-2 at WWG tournament

WALNUT GROVE - New Ulm Cathedral went 3-2 Saturday at the Westbrook-Walnut Grove volleyball tournament.

For the Greyhounds, Mackinnon Ehlenz and Paige Pautzke each had nine service aces for the tournament and Lisa Helget had seven aces. Kristen Mohr led the Greyhounds with 24 kills and Ehlenz had 18 kills. Helget had 16 kills and Karlee Pfaff had 14 kills.

Paige Pautzke had 68 set assists and Helget had 30 digs while Ehlenz had 23 digs. Pfaff finished with 19 digs and Tori Zanke had 16 digs.

Cathedral (3-5) hosts Cedar Mountain/Comfrey on Tuesday.

Sleepy Eye Invitational

SLEEPY EYE - Sleepy Eye St. Mary's went 2-2-1 and took third place at the Sleepy Eye Invitational Saturday.

The Knights defeated Redwood Valley in the third-place match 25-12, 25-12. On the day, Deonna Brinkman had 23 kills, seven blocks and nine aces and Maddy Helget had 13 kills and 28 digs. Jessica Schmitz had 15 kills and seven aces and Bethany Berkner had 46 set assists. Lexie Weiss had 44 digs.

St. Mary's plays in Cottonwood against Lakeview on Monday.

Mankato West Tourney

MANKATO - Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop finished fourth out of 16 teams at the Mankato West tournament Saturday.

Morgan Wenninger led GFW in kills with 19 and she had 26 digs and Edie Beranek had 16 kills and 49 digs. Eve Bleick had 25 digs and Katelyn Seehafer had eight blocks. Morgan Wenninger had 34 set assists and Sydney Fromm had 22 set assists.
