WINDOM - Kari Schumacher ran one of the fastest times in program history for the St. Mary's/Sleepy Eye/New Ulm Cathedral girls' cross country team in a meet at Windom Country Club on Monday, placing eighth in a time of 15:41.
Both the SM/SE/NUC girls and boys had incomplete team scores for the meet. Springfield/Cedar Mountain placed sixth on the boys' side and seventh on the girls' side.
Leading the way for the S/CM boys was Isaac Kirschstein, who finished 22nd in a time of 18:10.
Rounding out the team score for the S/CM boys were Dylan Nachreiner (26th, 18:50), Gerritt Meidl (27th, 18:54), Collin Daub (43rd, 19:43) and Lance Zeug (59th, 20:33).
Contributing to the team score for the S/CM girls was Elizabeth Groebner (41st, 18:10), Anna Lang (59th, 19:31), Morgan Trebesch (61st, 20:53), Alex Solmonson (63rd, 21:21) and Steele Meraz (66th, 21:31).
For the SM/SE/NUC girls, Mary Joyce placed 31st in a time of 17:27. Jenny Lax was 34th in 17:46 in her first varsity race and Angie Kiecker finished in 57th with a time of 19:16.
Stephen Joyce led the SM/SE/NUC boys with a 32nd-place time of 19:14. Brandon Roiger was 36th in 19:34, Nick DeMaris set a personal best by almost two minutes in a 40th-place finish in 19:38 and Zach Long placed 81st in 21:48.
Redwood Valley won the boys' team competition and Mountain Lake Area won the team competition on the girls' side.
St. James' Johnathan Surber won the boys' race in 16:41 and Redwood Valley's Kayla Huhnerkoch blew away the field in the girls' race, winning in a time of 14:47.
