MLC volleyball player honored

ST. PAUL - Martin Luther College volleyball player Rachel Hein was named Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for her performance for the Knights last weekend at the UW-Oshkosh Pizza Hut Classic.

Hein averaged 2.0 blocks per game in four matches, helping MLC to a 3-1 record at the tournament. The senior middle hitter currently leads the UMAC in blocks per game at 1.5.

Hein also contributed offensively during the tournament, averaging 2.15 kills per game at the tournament with an attack percentage of .254.

MLC will begin the UMAC season on Friday when it hosts Minnesota, Morris in the conference opener. The match is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
