Rabbits sweep Sleepy Eye

Wabasso 3, Sleepy Eye 0

WABASSO-The Wabasso Rabbits swept the Sleepy Eye Indians 25-6, 25-15, 25-15 in Tomahawk Conference volleyball action Tuesday night.

Desi Kramer led the Rabbits with nine kills and three service aces. Ellen Franta was 12-for-13 serving with seven digs and two service aces. Kim Frank had 17 set assists and Franta was 12-for-13 serving with one ace.

For Sleepy Eye, Sam Krebsbach had six kills and Claire Krumbach had three kills and four digs. Miranda McMullen finished with 11 set assists.

Wabasso (9-4) travels to Minnesota Valley Lutheran for a Thursday night conference match-up. Sleepy Eye (3-7) will face cross-town rival Sleepy Eye St. Mary's at St. Mary's on Thursday.

Waseca 3, New Ulm 2

WASECA-The Waseca Bluejays downed New Ulm 25-14, 21-25, 25-18, 21-25 15-9 in South Central Conference volleyball action Tuesday night.

Bree Friedman led the Eagles with 38 set assists and 12 digs. Sarah Nelson had 18 digs, nine kills, was 20-for-22 serving with one ace. Katie Forst had 11 kills and four blocks. Lizzie Rummel had 10 kills and Briana Sieve had 24 digs.

The Eagles (1-5, 1-5 overall) will host Fairmont Thursday.

Madelia 3, LCWM 2

MADELIA-Madelia downed Lake Crystal-Welcome Memorial in five sets Tuesday night in Valley Conference action. The scores were 22-25, 9-25, 25-22, 25-20, 15-12.

Haley Reed led the Blackhawks with 16 kills and 10 digs. Emily Koehler had 21 set assists, and Kayla McCabe had 20 digs.

Madelia (6-4, 4-2) will face Maple River in Madelia Thursday night.

St. Clair 3, GFW 0

WINTHROP - The Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop volleyball team lost a non-conference match against St. Clair by a score of 25-18, 26-24, 25-21.

Erin McDurmont had 13 kills to lead GFW. Morgan Wenninger had 13 set assists and Sydney Fromm added 11 set assists. Edie Beranek led GFW with 25 digs and Fromm added 16 of her own. Fromm and Beranek also combined to go 26-for-26 serving on the night. Breanna Ahlers had three blocks for GFW.

GFW falls to 13-5 with the loss and will host Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart on Thursday.

BLHS 3, Cathedral 1

HECTOR - On Dig Pink Night in Hector, the Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart volleyball team defeated Tomahawk Conference opponent New Ulm Cathedral by a score of 25-23, 20-25, 25-16, 25-17.

Mikayla Paulson had 19 kills and Carley Klabunde added 10 kills to lead the attack for BLHS. Ashley Tintes had 25 set assists and Karly Sifferath added 11 of her own as well.

MacKinnon Ehlenz had a solid night for Cathedral with 11 kills, five blocks and six service aces. Paige Pautzke had 27 set assists to lead the way for Cathedral. Tori Zanke added 12 digs and Lisa Helget had 11 digs in the loss.

BLHS improves to 6-6 overall and will travel to play GFW on Thursday. Cathedral falls to 8-9 with the loss and will play Monday at Nicollet.

Alden-Conger 3,

Nicollet 2

NICOLLET - Alden-Conger defeated Nicollet in Valley Conference volleyball action, 25-14, 28-30, 25-19, 18-25, 15-8.

Katelyn Skrien had 13 kills, seven service aces and 15 set assists to lead the way for Nicollet. Carissa Woller added 11 kills and 20 digs, while Courtney Struss had 44 digs for Nicollet.

Nicollet falls to 2-9 overall and will travel to play Martin County West on Thursday.
