New Ulm defeats St. Peter in SCC

ST. PETER - Peyton Lewis' second-half goal was the difference as New Ulm defeated St. Peter 2-1 in South Central Conference girls soccer action Tuesday.

St. Peter started the scoring off early with a goal in the fifth minute. New Ulm answered back as Nicole Moldstad sent a free kick into the net in the 29th minute.

In the 59th minute, Lewis scored on an assist from Abby Koelpin to put the Eagles on top for good.

St. Peter outshot the Eagles 11-8, but Shelby Smith saved 10 shots for the Eagles.

New Ulm improves to 11-2-1 (5-1-1 in SCC) on the year and will play Thursday at Fairmont.
