ST. PAUL - Martin Luther College football player Luke Rothe was named Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week after helping the Knights to a 17-13 win at Presentation on Saturday in his first career start at quarterback.
Rothe became the second player in MLC history to throw for 200 yards and rush for 100 yards in the same game, completing 16-of-26 passes for 227 yards and two scores, while also rushing 18 times for 105 yards.
Rothe, who has played quarterback, running back, wide receiver and defensive back this season, has thrown for two touchdowns and caught two touchdown passes this season. He also has one kick return for a touchdown and an interception on the season.
The Knights will return to action on Saturday when they travel to Eureka for a 1 p.m. game.
