NEW ULM - The New Ulm Actors Community Theater received a grant of $3,315 from the Prairie Lakes Regional Arts Council this week. NUACT will use the grant for publicity and the director's fee for several plays, original projects, classes, and workshops for youth and adults during the 2012-13 season
The Prairie Lakes Regional Arts Council announced grants totalling $127,615 have been awarded from the state Arts and Culture Heritage Fund to 23 arts organizations, community groups and schools in the region. Grants ranged from $1,400 to $6,500.
The fund was created by the people of Minnesota to support the arts and preserve the state's natural heritage. The Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment, passed by the voters in November, 2008, created new resources for land conservation, water conservation, parks and the Arts.
In Region Nine these grant funds were awarded to organizations to increase their professionalism and artistic offerings and to provide a variety of activities including: arts classes for youth and adults; art exhibitions; arts and music festivals; choral concerts; dance performances; literary readings; music concerts; theater performances; etc.
