Guild features crafts

November 3, 2012

Kara Carlson poses with a scarecrow model of Thusnelda, the wife of Hermann the German, outside the craft show put on by the Thusneldas Guild on Friday as part of the Gnome Made Art and & Fine Craft Shows. The informal Thusneldas group of local craft makers and artists host a craft sale together annually because they often can't afford the fees of participaintng in larger scale craft shows on their own. The name was selected to represent what Hermann's wife would work on while Hermann was out hunting, while also overlapping with the idea behind this weekend's New Ulm Shopping Opener. The Thusneldas Guild will feature their crafts at a private residence at 500 S. Washington St. on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and on Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.
