Karen (Mrs. Vincent) Branch

NEW ULM - Karen (Mrs. Vincent) Branch, 53, of New Ulm died early Thursday morning of injuries sustained in an automobile accident near Sleepy Eye. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Tuesday, November 20 at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with Father Anthony Heese, Father James McConville, and Rev. Mr. Deacon Steven Spillman concelebrating the Mass. Burial will follow in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-8 pm Monday and 7:30-10 am Tuesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home NORTH CHAPEL in New Ulm. Karen is survived by her husband, Vincent Branch of New Ulm; children, Quintin and Christian Branch, both living at home in New Ulm; brother, Danille Wilfahrt; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Herbert and Marcella Branch of Minnetonka; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bill and Mary Lou Anderson of Robbinsdale, Darrel and Christine Branch of Minnetonka, Steven and Cheryl Branch of Hopkins, Dennis and Tiffany Branch of St. Paul; and by several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother-in-law, Leonard Branch.

Karen Marie Wilfahrt was born May 27, 1959 in Minneapolis to Richard and Dorothy (Albrecht) Wilfahrt. She graduated from Holy Trinity Catholic School in New Ulm with the class of 1977 and attended St. Paul Vocational Technical School for two years and received her certificate in food service. While attending school and for a while after her schooling she worked at the 3M plant in New Ulm. In 1983 Karen moved to the twin cities where she worked on the N.E.T. and the C. Y. C. In 1999 she moved back to New Ulm. Karen was a past employee in food service with the New Ulm Public School System and was currently employed as the Food Service Director with the Sleepy Eye Public Schools. She was a member of the St. Gregory's Catholic Church in Lafayette where she also sang in the church choir, taught CCD classes for many years, was a lector and an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion and was a Secular Franciscan at St. Gregory's. Karen also was a past CCD Coordinator at the Cathedral in New Ulm, was a member of the Milford 4-H Club, and of the New Ulm Figure Skating Club.

Karen was a wonderful mother and wife who was always happy and had a huge smile on her face. She was the love of Vincent's life. The family prefers memorials to either Make A Wish Foundation in her son, Quintin's name, to the New Ulm United Way, or to donors choice.
