REDWOOD FALLS - Robert N. Sperl, 78, of Redwood Falls, formerly of Essig, died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012 at his home.
Private family services will be held.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4 at the Redwood Valley Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Burial with military honors will be in St. Catherine's Catholic Cemetery.
Robert Sperl was born Jan. 28, 1934 on the family farm in Brown County near Essig to John and Bertha (Hauser) Sperl. He was drafted into the Army in 1957 and served in the 1st Armored Division, C Battery, 73rd Artillery Battalion. He received his honorable discharged in February 1959.
Robert is survived by his wife, JoAnn ; children, Doug Sperl of Savage, Nancy Sperl of Plymouth, John Sperl of North Redwood, Koleen Sperl of Granite Falls, Joyce Smith of Redwood Falls, and Sandra Sperl of Highland Ranch, Colo.; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; siblings: Martha Helget of Franklin, Loretta Holm of New Ulm, and Alice Manderfeld of New Ulm.
