PREP BOYS BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Hot shooting lifts Madelia boys to a victory

Immanuel Lutheran 59

TRUMAN - Madelia shot 54 percent from the field on Friday night and that hot shooting propelled the Blackhawks to a win over Immanuel Lutheran in the first round of the Truman Invite boys basketball tournament.

The Blackhawks were led offensively by Devin Ulmen, who scored 25 points to go along with nine rebounds. Jack Bergemen also chipped in 23 points for Madelia.

Madelia will play in the championship game at 1:30 p.m. today against Truman.

LCWM 73, New Ulm 56

LAKE CRYSTAL - Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial defeated New Ulm in non-conference boys basketball action on Friday night.

The Eagles were led offensively by Tyler Dittrich, who scored 12 points. Grant Kannegiesser also put in 12 points for New Ulm.

New Ulm (0-1) will travel to Delano today to play in a 1:30 p.m. game.

Springfield 63, RRC 50

LAMBERTON - Springfield defeated Red Rock Central Friday in nonconference boys basketball action.

Jeff Decock led the Falcons with 17 points, seven rebounds and six assists. Henry Rogotzke scored nine points, grabbed eight rebounds and had five blocks for RRC.

Cole Milbrath and Carson Herfurth each had 16 points for Springfield.

Springfield (1-0) hosts Mountain Lake on Tuesday.

RRC (0-1) is at Westbrook-Walnut Grove on Thursday.

Sleepy Eye 61, MCC 34

SLEEPY EYE - Sleepy Eye defeated Murray County Central in the Sleepy Eye Invite boys basketball tourney on Friday night.

Sleepy Eye was paced by Matt Schroepfer's double-double as he put in 15 points to go along with 10 rebounds. Saul Ibarra led the Indians with 16 points and Tyler Netzke had 14 points to go along with his seven rebounds and six assists.

Sleepy Eye (1-0) will play Lester Prairie at 1 p.m. today.

Illinois Lutheran 65, St. Croix Lutheran 42

NEW ULM - Illinois Lutheran got 32 points from Mack Newson as the Chargers advanced to the championship game of the MLC Tipoff Tournament Friday night.

The Chargers will play West Lutheran tonight for the title.
