PREP GIRLS BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: St. Peter girls run past New Ulm

St. Peter 58, New Ulm 18

ST. PETER - St. Peter defeated New Ulm Friday night in South Central Conference girls basketball action.

Hunter Ahlness and Briana Sieve led the Eagles, scoring four points each.

Tailor Raymond scored 21 points to lead the Saints.

New Ulm (0-3) will host Willmar Tuesday night in a non-conference game.

Wabasso 62, NUC 37

WABASSO - Wabasso defeated New Ulm Cathedral Tuesday night in Tomahawk Conference girls basketball action.

Kimberly Frank led Wabasso with 16 points, eight assists and eight steals. Chelsey Guetter added 13 points.

Lisa Helget scored 13 points for the Greyhounds.

Wabasso (2-1, 1-0) travels to Sleepy Eye Monday night for a Tomahawk Conference match-up with the Indians.

MVL 53, BLHS 41

HECTOR - Minnesota Valley Lutheran improved to 2-0 in the Tomahawk Conference as it defeated Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart on Friday night in girls basketball action.

The Chargers were led by Alexa Alfred's 14 points on the night.

Other contributors for MVL included Sarah Burk, who put in six points to go along with her seven rebounds. Nicole Moldstad chipped in nine points of her own.

The Mustangs were led by Hannah VanderVoort, who scored 15 points.

MVL (2-0, 5-0) will travel to Springfield on Monday night.

Nicollet 41, Sleepy Eye 36

SLEEPY EYE - Katelyn Skrien and Courtney Struss each scored 12 points apiece to lead Nicollet over Sleepy Eye Friday night in non-conference girls basketball action.

Claire Krumbach led the Indians with 15 points and 13 rebounds.

Nicollet (3-2) hosts Martin Luther Tuesday night. Sleepy Eye (0-5) hosts Wabasso Monday night.

St. Mary's 56,

Springfield 48

SPRINGFIELD - Springfield led 22-19 at halftime but could not hold on as Sleepy Eye St. Mary's stormed back and won the Tomahawk Conference girls basketball showdown on Friday night.

Jessica Schmitz scored 14 points to lead St. Mary's. Maddy Helget scored 11 of her 13 points from the foul line for the Knights. Larissa Helget also chipped in 11 points for St. Mary's.

Jordan Salonek's double-double led the way for Springfield as she recorded 15 points and 12 rebounds in the battle.

Springfield (1-1, 2-2) will host MVL on Monday night. St. Mary's (2-0, 4-2) will travel to Red Rock Central on Tuesday.

CM/C 57, GFW 29

MORGAN - Haley Weidman scored 16 points and had eight rebounds to lead Cedar Mountain/Comfrey over Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop Friday in Tomahawk Conference girls basketball action.

Alli Madsen finished with 10 points and Emily Ochs grabbed seven rebounds for the Cougars.

Halley Busse led the Thunderbirds with 11 points.

CM/C (2-2) is at BLHS on Tuesday and GFW hosts New Ulm Cathedral on Tuesday.
