Rose Mary Bertrand was born Aug. 22, 1917 in New Ulm, to Paul and Elizabeth (Madory) Bertrand. She moved with her family to Home Township when she was three years old and attended St. Mary's School in Sleepy Eye.

She married Leo J. Hoffmann on October 28, 1935. They farmed for two years near Evan then moved to a farm northeast of Sleepy Eye where they lived until Leo's death (April 28, 1961). Rose Mary married Leonard Kral of Sleepy Eye on Aug. 22, 1963. She was a life long member of St. Mary's Catholic Church where she was active in the Christian Mothers Society, NCSF Court, CCW, and St. Mary's "R" Section. She held various offices on the Divine Providence Auxiliary and Catholic Conference Club. She was a leader of the Wide Awakes 4-H Club and Prairieville Home Extension and was currently a member of the Qui Vive Club.
