PREP GIRLS BASKETBALL: Cougars take third at own tourney

MORGAN - Cedar Mountain/Comfrey defeated Southwest United to finish in third place in the Cedar Mountain/Comfrey Holiday Tournament in girls basketball action Tuesday night.

Courtney Nelsen led the Cougars with 12 points and six rebounds. Haley Weidman added 11 points and five rebounds.

Courtney Place led the Wildcats with 17 points.

CM-C (4-4, 2-2) hosts Sleepy Eye (1-6, 0-2) Jan. 4 in a Tomahawk Conference game.

Wabasso 66, SESM 32

SLEEPY EYE - Kim Frank and Kacie Rothmeier each scored 14 points to lead Wabasso over Sleepy Eye St Mary's Tuesday night in Tomahawk conference girls basketball action.

Frank also had five steals and three assists. Desi Kramer contributed 12 points and 14 rebounds for the Rabbits.

Maddy Helget led the Knights with 12 points.

Wabasso (4-1, 3-0) travels to Tracy to play in the Tracy Holiday Tournament Friday. St. Mary's (6-3, 3-1) hosts Truman in a non-conference game Thursday.

Nicollet 47, Truman 40

TRUMAN - Katelyn Skrien scored 13 points to lead Nicollet past Truman in Valley Conference girls basketball action Tuesday.

Emily Skrien pitched in with 10 points and six steals as the Raiders (5-3) host Sibley East on Thursday.
