GIBBON - The Gibbon Fairfax Winthrop (GFW) school board approved a resolution Monday for the appointment of Angel Munoz to fill the remaining two years of a vacancy created by board member Tom Van Hon's resignation.
Van Hon, a Fairfax attorney, accepted a judgeship in western Minnesota and is moving to Montevideo.
The board administered oaths of office to Munoz and new student board member Leighton Messner, a sophomore. Miranda Sweely is the other school board student member.
The board approved its payable 2013 levy as presented. The Minnesota Department of Education updated levy amounts on Dec. 13, 2012. Recent changes are not reflected in property tax statements district taxpayers received. Actual impact to taxpayers will now be less than the statements show, according to Supt. Jeff Bertrang.
The meeting was closed under attorney-client privilege, to discuss the Gibbon school boiler litigation proceedings.
