The week of Feb. 18-22 has been designated as School Board Recognition Week. School Board members are community residents that have accepted the responsibility as a public servant to provide the ingredients for our youth to become productive, responsible and active citizens. These dedicated public servants spend countless hours so our youth can receive the best education possible.
School board members are faced with making difficult and oftentimes unpopular decisions. Prior to making those decisions, they have devoted many hours to researching the basis for decisions and creating understandable scenarios for students, parents and staff.
School board members are elected by their communities and oversee multi-million dollar budgets that have a life-long impact on youth. The ISD 88 Board of Education makes decisions that impact nearly 2,000 students, close to 300 staff members and nearly 20,000 residents.
School board decisions impact the preparation of our youth for life beyond graduation while adhering to state and federal education laws. Please express your appreciation to the ISD 88 school board members during this special week of the year.
Feb. 14 is the next school board Study Session. The Study Session will begin earlier than usual due to several factors. The Study Session will begin at 4 p.m. in the DAC boardroom. Community members are welcome to attend. Discussion topics include: A profile report from the Superintendent Search Team, discussion of the six-period day at New Ulm High School, discussion of the Coop Activity fair share fee process, and a glance at future facility needs within the school district.
