NEW ULM - Three New Ulm Businesses received checks on Thursday from the Heartland Consumer Power District, which provides the majority of the base load of power to New Ulm Public Utilities.
Heartland, an electric cooperative headquartered in Madison, S.D., offers incentives for businesses that use its power and grow their employment by at least five new employees and increase electric usage.
SpecSys received a check for $11,019, and Beacon Promotions received a check of $11,019.00 and for $8,813.88.

A third business wished to remain anonymous.
These business are the first to receive the Heartland incentives, which include cash payment for new jobs created as well as a rebate portion of a portion of the increased electrical usage.
