NEW ULM - Local University of Minnesota athletics fans will get a chance to visit with Gopher coaching staff members when the Gopher Road Trip comes to New Ulm Friday, May 17.
The event will be held at 11:30 a.m. at Turner Hall. A complimentary lunch buffet with beverages will be served, including soup and sandwich and root beer floats. There will be prizes and giveaways and photo opportunities with Gophers coaching staff members and Goldy.
A program featuring emcee Mike Grimm, Norwood Teague and brief remarks from select Gopher head coaches is also scheduled for the New Ulm stop.
Teague recently announced plans for the first annual trek across the State of Minnesota.
"This is an unbelievable opportunity for our staff here at the University of Minnesota to connect with our passionate fans across this great state," Teague said. "Many of our fans are not able to make it to campus as often to cheer on the Gophers, so this is a way for us to bring Minnesota athletics to them. I am looking forward to getting out into greater Minnesota, meeting and listening to Gopher fans."
Teague, along with women's basketball coach Pam Borton, men's gymnastics coach Mike Burns, soccer coach Stefanie Golan, football coach Jerry Kill, women's tennis coach Chuck Merzbacher, men's basketball coach Richard Pitino, wrestling coach J Robinson and men's tennis coach Jeff Young are scheduled to appear in New Ulm.
