HANSKA - Kenneth James Frederickson, 87, of Hanska passed away quietly at Pleasant View Good Samaritan Center in St. James on Friday, April 19, 2013. He had been in declining health for the past several years.

Funeral service will be 11 AM Tuesday, April 23, at Lake Hanska Lutheran Church in rural Hanska with Pastor Sarah Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in rural Hanska.

Visitation will be 4 7 PM Monday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Hanska and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at church on Tuesday.

Survivors include his daughter, Janice (Duane) Leick of Prior Lake; son, John Frederickson of Hanska; seven grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Muriel (Lee) Frederickson of Hanska; and many nieces and nephews.

He was precede in death by his wife June; his parents, Hans and Emma Frederickson; sisters, Myrtle Simonds, Carol Dumke, and Eunice Harlin; brothers, Frederick, Lee and Leo Frederickson.

Kenneth was born January 20, 1926 in Lake Hanska Township to Hans and Emma (Schmiesing) Frederickson and baptized and confirmed at Lake Hanska Lutheran Church. He attended District 67 and Hanska District 81 Schools. Kenneth graduated from Hanska High School and went on to farm with his father and brothers Leo and Lee. He was united in marriage to June Midtbruget on November 2, 1946. They made their home on the original Frederickson Family Farm of Kenneth's parents and raised their two children, Janice and John and built an outstanding dairy operation.

Ken and June became very active members of the Lake Hanska Lutheran Church and participated in numerous church activities. Ken served on the Lake Hanska Lutheran Church Council. He also served on the Hanska Co-Op Creamery Board, the District 67 and 81 School Boards, the LaSalle Grain Elevator Board and the Watonwan County D.H.I.A Board.
