Jayhawks defeat Nicollet in Valley action

MADELIA - Madelia-Truman defeated Nicollet in a Valley Conference softball game on Tuesday.

Beth Kotewa was the winning pitcher for the Jayhawks. Kotewa pitched a complete game and gave up four runs on six hits, three walks, and 10 strikeouts.

Madelia-Truman was led at the plate by Savannah Stevens, who went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI.

Sara Meurer took the loss for the Raiders. Meurer pitched all seven innings and gave up five runs on 11 hits, one walk, and six strikeouts.

Kayla Giefer led Nicollet offensively, going 2-for-4 with an RBI triple.

The Jayhawks (3-4, 2-2) play next on Thursday at Maple River, while Nicollet plays Thursday against Mankato Loyola.

Wabasso 4, St. Mary's 2

SLEEPY EYE - Wabasso defeated Sleepy Eye St. Mary's in a Tomahawk Conference softball game on Tuesday.

Kimberly Frank was the winning pitcher for Wabasso. Frank pitched a complete game shutout on five hits, two walks, and five strikeouts.

Frank and Callie Rohlik led the Rabbits offensively as each was 1-for-2 at the plate.

Laura Pelzel was the losing pitcher from St. Mary's. She gave up two runs, one earned, through seven innings of work on four hits, five strikeouts, and one walk.

Karissa Fleck went 3-for-3 with a double to lead the Knights on offense.

Wabasso (1-1) will host Sleepy Eye on Thursday, while St. Mary's (3-1, 2-1) will play at home against Comfrey/Cedar Mountain.

Springfield 10,

Sleepy Eye 6

SPRINGFIELD - Sonja Fieldler's two-RBI triple helped Springfield defeat Sleepy Eye in a Tomahawk Conference softball game on Tuesday.

Molly Dunn recorded the win for the Tigers from the circle, but she only pitched 1 2/3 innings as Tiffany Schwanke pitched the rest of the 5 1/3 innnigs and allowed four earned runs on four hits and struck out seven in the win.

Karly Jensen got the loss from the circle as she allowed four earned runs on four hits. She walked three batters in two innings.

Springfield (4-0) will go to Cathedral on Thursday for a conference doubleheader. Sleepy Eye will play at Wabasso on Thursday which is also a doubleheader.
