NEW ULM -The Hanska Lakers scored five runs in the top of the ninth inning to defeat the New Ulm Brewers 9-3 Sunday at Johnson Park.
Gary Wilfahrt was the winning pitcher for the Lakers.
Chris Cariveau took the loss for the Brewers.
Eric Portner led Hanska with three hits and drove in three runs. Kevin Larson, Brady Mosenden, Jason Retzlaff and Adam Buegler each added two hits with Retzlaff and Buegler each driving in two runs.
Brady Ranweiler and Chris Peters each had two hits for the Brewers.
Hanska held a slim 4-3 lead over the Brewers until it scored those five runs.
A Mosenden single, a double from Terry Wellmann and a wild pitch scored a run. An Adam Buegler RBI single, a fielder's choice and a two-run single from Eric Portner closed out the scoring for the Lakers in the ninth off Brett Gieseke, the fourth pitcher used by the Brewers in the game.
