New Ulm holds off Worthington

NEW ULM - New Ulm defeated Worthington 5-2 Tuesday afternoon in a nonconference boys tennis match.

Isaiah Johnson and Nic Gartner downed Dillon Pederson and Nick Newman 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1 doubles..

New Ulm won at No. 2 doubles when Billy Griffith and Sam Frederickson won their match 6-3, 6-1.

John Goddall and Taylor Tambornio won at No. 3 doubles 1-6, 6-1, 7-6 (7-5).

"We were getting our shots in, our serving was good and we played to our full potential," said Griffith.

Frederickson added, "It was an all around good game."

Carter Linder defeated New Ulm's Alex King 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles.

"I had an off day. It was downhill from the start," King said.

Andrew Johnson defeated Calvin Collum Jr. at No. 2 singles 6-1, 6-4.

The Eagles' Josh Koelpin defeated A.J. Hayenga 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 singles and Noah Stocker defeated Ben Doeden at No. 4 singles.

New Ulm hosts St. James Thursday in a South Central Conference meet.
