NEW ULM - Fresh off the release of its first official music video just two weeks ago, The Little Prairie Pickers band will perform Friday at Lola's Larkspur Market in downtown New Ulm.
The band focuses on folk, classic country and bluegrass music. The group started out of Cambria-based, brother-sister musical duo Danielle Deopere, who performs vocals and the banjo, and Ross Deopere, who plays acoustic guitar. New Ulm resident Laura Karels, who performs vocals and the mandolin, rounded out the initial group. The group eventually added stand-up bass and vocal performer Angie Kudelka in 2010 and washboard player Jason Schroeder.
The group completed its first official album last November. The band subsequently finished its first official music video for the song "Little Town," which was released two weeks ago. It features the band with 1950s clothing and items with a modern twist sneaked into the different elements.
The Friday concert will feature big screen presentation of the music video and a musical performance by the band.
Ross Deopere said they will perform in the outfits from the music video and with some of the props. He said the event would be a good opportunity for people that have not had a chance to hear the band yet to check it out.
"It's a good listening band. We got a lot of good harmony in our music from our singers," said Deopere.
The band has an official website at www.thelittleprairiepickers.com.
The music video can be viewed online at either the website or at www.youtube.com/watch?v=_YDTS1DpMzM&feature=player_embedded
The Friday concert will be held at Lola's Larkspur from 7 to 10 p.m.
