MVL rallies to beat LP/HT

LESTER PRAIRIE - Tyler Mielke delivered the go-ahead run as Minnesota Valley Lutheran defeated Lester Prairie/Holy Trinity 2-1 in Section 2A playoff action Saturday.

Mielke's hit in the top of the seventh scored Ryan Grunke and Justin Bruns. Rick Jensen earned the win for the Chargers. He allowed four hits and struck out four in seven innings.

Chad Lease was 2-for-3 for the Chargers (7-8), who are at Sleepy Eye St. Mary's on Tuesday.

SESM 4, BLHS 0

SLEEPY EYE - Sleepy Eye St. Mary's shut out Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart in the first round of the Section 2A, North playoffs Saturday.

St. Mary's Jordan Anderson pitched seven innings and struck out nine batters while allowing three hits and three walks. Sean Mathiowetz led the Knight's offensively with a triple and two RBI. Mitch Neid was 1-for-2 and David Surprenant had a double.

Mason Clark took the loss for BLHS. He pitched all six innings and allowed four hits while striking out five batters and giving up four walks. Clark was also 2-for-3 at the plate with a double.

SESM improves to 19-1 with the victory and will host Minnesota Valley Lutheran on Tuesday.

Springfield 19, Adrian 2

Springfield 4, Wabasso 0

MILROY - Springfield picked up a pair of wins in the Section 3A baseball playoffs, crushing Adrian in the first game and then blanking Wabasso in the second game.

Isaac Kirschstein earned the win for the Tigers, pitching four innings and he didn't allow a hit. He struck out two. Dylan Wersal pitched the final inning and struck out three.

Carter Erickson and Cooper Scheffler each went 3-for-3 and Jake Menage had four RBIs for the Tigers.

In the second game, Shawn Anderson allowed three hits and he struck out seven for the win. Seth Guetter took the loss for the Rabbits.

Scheffler was 3-for-3 with two RBIs and Sam Baier and Jake Vanderwerf each had an RBI.

Springfield (18-3) plays at 5 p.m. Tuesday in Granite Falls.
