NEW ULM - The New Ulm 18-U Softball Team split a double header with the Mankato Peppers Thursday night in New Ulm.
New Ulm fell to the Peppers 7-4, with Hannah Backer pitching and taking the loss. Karlee Pfaff was 2-for-2 at the plate, and five other girls had one hit in the game.
In game 2, Carly Maasz took the mound and shut down the Peppers, scattering four hits, striking out 4, and giving up no walks. Chantel Donner was 3-for-3, Brittany Hoffman and Kristi Larson added singles, and Kali Denn drove in the winning run.
New Ulm is now 6-4 for the season, and is ready for a big weekend when it hosts the Windmill Classic Softball Tournament.
