NEW ULM - Several hundred vehicles are expected for the 13th Annual Autofest Car & Cycle Show, a free, non-judging show, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday on South Highway 15.

Participants receive a free goody bag while supplies last and are entered to win door prizes throughout the event.

Apple Valley Ford's portable dynometer will be available for a fee to test performance and measure vehicle horsepower. Contestants and anyone else are invited to guess the dyno-measured horsepower of Justin Dauer's 1974 Chevrolet Nova dragster.

Autofest vehicles will include from left, Leon Portner’s 1966 Ford Mustang Pony edition, Justin Dauer’s 1974 Nova dragster, and Mark Dauer’s 1983 Olds 442 15th Anniversary model.

Dauer's dragster has a 496 cubic-inch big block V-8 engine and burns 112-octane racing fuel that costs $12 a gallon. The dragster is set up to reach 115 mph in one-eighth-mile drag races that last about 6.2 seconds.

Veteran Autofest participants include Leon Portner and his 1966 Ford Mustang Pony edition and Mark Dauer and his 1983 Oldsmobile 442.

"I've owned the Mustang for 42 years. I finally had it restored a couple years ago," Portner said. Decades ago, he drag raced the car at North Star and Twin City Dragways.
