NEW?ULM - After four sunny days, the Brown County Free Fair concluded on Sunday and managed to sneak by without rain despite ominous clouds.
Organizers were pleased with the higher than usual turnout. They attributed attendance to ideal weather and lack of rain. The abundance of fun activities available at the fair during a slow weekend in the local area also brought in visitors.
The turnout was a particularly good sign because the only changes this year were adding a few food venders. They hope the increased attendance will continue in 2014.

The Minne-E-Rods and the Truck & Tractor Show drew a strong crowd for the roaring engines, bellowing smoke and quick speed bursts of the competitors. Nate Dammann, of Hamburg, won two titles on Sunday: Improved Farm 10,500 lbs. and Improved Farm 12,500 lbs.
The final events for the fair included the award ceremony for the 4-H activities.
